Dear Client,

I am so excited to tell you all about what is going to be happening over the next few months. I'm launching a new charitable program called the Total Health Challenge where 4 teams compete to increase their wellness.

The goals of this challenge are to:
  • donate money to a charity (charity TBD)
  • allow companies to promote wellness within their environment
  • allow those companies who are participating to get media exposure for their wellness programs
This is a huge initiative, and I hope it will spur interest in not only weight loss, but a shift towards self-care and general wellness; which is what Total Health by Elizabeth is all about.

Although the structure of the program is pretty much in place, I'm now starting the process of getting sponsorship with the designated charity, vendors, media, trainers and the participating companies. The Total Health Challenge will kickoff at the beginning of 2009.

I want you to be excited about this too. If you want to participate, and think that others at your company would also like to join in on the fun, please contact me at eliz@elizabethsherman.com. And feel free forward either this newsletter or the website to to anyone who you think would be interested in helping out, donating or participating as well.

Visit www.totalhealthchallenge.com to get more information.

I'll keep you posted on everything that's going on, & if you have any feedback or ideas on how to make it ROCK please contact me. I'm open to everything!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Sherman

Me: 1960 Time Machine
Hey - Who's that attractive young woman, you ask? Well, it's me, in 1960. Yes, I realize that I wasn't born until 1968, but I found this great website where you can transform yourself into yearbook photos from as far back as 1950 to 2000.

What does Yearbook Yourself have to do with wellness? Well, nothing really, except that having a good sense of humor and laughing reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, relaxes us and prevents high blood pressure, strokes, arthritis, heart disease and ulcers.
Jack-o-LanternBeware of the Sugar-Fest
Halloween is fast approaching, and since I am a wellness coach, nutritionist and personal trainer I don't feel like I would be acting responsibly if I gave candy to the trick-or-treaters. For the past few years I've been conflicted about what to give the neighborhood kiddos.  Candy is fine in moderation, however there really isn't anything moderate about the abundance of Halloween candy children receive: not to mention that Halloween signals the beginning of the 5 month long sugar-fest that concludes with chocolate eggs and colored sugar coated marshmallows in the shape of chickens & bunnies.

Now that Fall is approaching, I'm really excited to dust off my heartier fall recipes. One of my favorites is Turkey Meatballs with Red Sauce and Spaghetti Squash. It's easy & it's fast. This entire meal can be done in 30 minutes from start to finish.

If you've never tried spaghetti squash, it's a fantastic substitution for regular pasta at a fraction of the calories! Be forewarned: Spaghetti Squash is not exactly pasta, but it's a great substitution for those times when you crave italian food, but don't want the heaviness that goes along with it.
